FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions at Warnborough College

Questions and answers most commonly asked by our students.

Enrolment

You may enrol and start at any time of the year – it’s all self-paced.

Our courses are available to any one, anywhere in the world from the comfort of your own home. The course content is relevant to any country, culture or economy. We believe education needs to be adaptable to our students in order to produce graduates who can better adapt to change.

You complete the course at any time that is convenient to you. There is no pressure. There are no deadlines.

Assignments

At the end of each lesson there is an assignment. Complete it and submit it to us. A tutor will mark the assignment and provide comments and feedback. We will then send the assignment with the feedback to you. Our policy is to have a grade for you within 5 to 7 days.

Yes – If you’re not happy with anything you have submitted, you may re-submit the assignment again. Sometimes, the tutors may recommend this if they feel you have not grasped the concepts well enough.

The number of assignments depends on the number of lessons that have been written for each module. So, if a course had 10 lessons, there would be accompanying 10 assignments. The number of lessons varies from module to module. Click on each individual course content on our website for further details.

There is no deadline for handing in any assignment. Submit when you are ready. Some students hand in assignments within the first couple of weeks of signing up – while others may submit their work 6 months later. Everyone has different work and personal commitments. We understand and cater for these needs.

We do recommend that you make an effort to submit assignments because getting feedback is not only useful, it can be very motivational.

If your course requires attendance at workshops, alternative arrangements can be made in your country. Note that there may be an additional expense to fulfill some of these as you may have to pay to attend a conference or exhibition (for example). It is important that a portfolio of such attendance is created and submitted. We can appoint an appropriately-qualified person anywhere to work through curriculum documentation supplied by us, in order to satisfy the requirements set down in a course.

To find out more about this part of the course, please visit the section on How Our Courses Work.

Tutors

You have unlimited access to tutors via email. In fact, we encourage students to develop dialogue with their tutor. This is why students should submit their first assignment fairly quickly after they begin the course.

Email or phone us. Leave a message if your tutor isn’t available, and they will email back as soon as they can. Alternatively, they may give you a call.

Yes – we try to accommodate and meet student needs within reason, and a change of tutor(s) may be arranged.

Most tutors hold a qualification at degree level (or equivalent) in the subject or related subject. More importantly, they must have at least 5 years industry experience in a managerial capacity and must remain active in industry.

Our tutors come from around the world – the UK, Ireland, Australia, New Zealand, Canada, Asia and the USA. All our tutors subscribe to our philosophy – that our students’ learning is at the heart of everything and that our courses are designed to be globally relevant.

Examinations and Assessments

Examinations are optional but need to be undertaken in order to receive credits, or a qualification. Each exam is one and a half hours in length. You appoint an adjudicator (subject to our approval) to supervise the exam. You sit for the exam in your own location. You can also choose to do the examination online.

If you do not cope well with examinations, you may elect to undertake a final project instead. Speak to our team about this.

Yes – you would be awarded a Letter of Achievement, providing you have completed all the assignments satisfactorily.

No – you can sit for the exam in your own location. You appoint an adjudicator to supervise the exam. Alternatively, you can do your exam online. Details can be found here.

Your course fee covers the examination fee. If you have to retake an examination for any reason, you have to pay a £40 resit fee.

Qualifications

For individual modules you would receive a Certificate (providing you successfully complete all assignments and the exam). If you just want to complete the assignments only, you will be awarded a Letter of Achievement. Click here for more details on qualifications awarded.

Yes – you can progress from one single module to a combination of many modules and to higher qualifications i.e. Advanced Certificates, Diplomas and Higher Advanced Diplomas. You can even look at topping up to getting a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in some instances. Contact us for more details.

Yes. Not all prescribed certificates or diplomas meet everyone’s needs. We offer you the opportunity to create your own certificate or diploma (subject to our approval, of course). This option is not often found at other institutions. On top of this, we can customise modules and assessments to meet industry or academic needs. (For example, you may need to do a module at Master’s level. The assessment can be tailored to meet the expected learning objectives and outcomes at that level).

General

Yes. You will earn credits for every module you successfully complete (including the final assessment).

This flexibility allows you to learn and pay as you go. You can just ‘build’ up your knowledge and skills base as you go along, and the credits will count towards a larger qualification. The only caveat is that all accumulated credits should not be older than 5 years.

Yes, if you have a PayPal account, you may pay in 3 equal installments.

Otherwise, you have to pay for each module upfront (in full). However, if you are doing a larger qualification that is comprised of multiple modules/courses, you can pay when you start a module(s).

We offer discounts every now and then to coincide with special occasions and events. Keep a lookout for the discount codes on our website or follow us on social media to keep up to date (see the footer at the bottom of the website for details).

If you introduce a friend to sign up for a course, you may both claim a 5% discount on fees if you both enrol in courses.

Corporate or government departments who wish to enrol a group of employees should contact us for group discounts.

It’s OK to take a break and start up your study at a later point in time. Just let us know.

You are supplied with all “essential” online references and study material. Extra books are always useful though, especially for special projects. Tutors will advise you on what to borrow/buy if you decide you would like to get any extra books.

Exactly what it says – a book in electronic format, that you can download, read on your device, and come back to it whenever you wish. It is useful as a quick reference guide and for getting general information about a topic.

Short courses are designed for quick reading and understanding.  They aim to give you a general overview of the subject and provide a base for future in-depth study. There will be some self-assessed questions and upon successful completion, you can print out your own certificate.

NOTE: There is no tutor support or formal assessment for these short courses. You will not receive an official certificate or letter from us.

That is completely down to you. Some people crack on and complete our 100 to 150-hour courses in a matter of weeks. Others take a year. It depends on how much time and effort you dedicate to your learning.

You also need to factor in tutor response and examination times.

We have a refund policy that is simple, fair and equitable.
