Reincarnations: Finding the Past in the Present

Artists of the Modern Era were all influenced by the masterworks of earlier traditions—even those artists they were trying so hard to challenge.

In this program, we’ll examine the relationships between some of the greatest Modernists and the extraordinary Old Masters—as well as the influence of Ancient Greco-Roman Art and Medieval Art on Modern Art. Such artists as Picasso, Matisse, Rivera, Klee, Kirchner, Arp and others will be explored, to identify precisely how and why the past influenced (and continues to influence) the present and future.
