Begin your medical career here!

Warnborough College offers a Pre-Medical Diploma which can act as an entry pre-requisite to some medical universities. This represents an opportunity for a motivated individual in any part of the world to follow a career in medicine. Students do not need to come to the UK to take the course – it can be studied from your home. Once you have graduated with the Diploma and applied to study at a medical school, you will need to commit yourself to full-time campus-based study.

The Pre-Medical Diploma is designed to meet the high standards and requirements demanded for medical school. Students receive tutor and moral support throughout the programme.

What’s involved?

Complete 8 required modules to acquire a solid background for medical studies.

Am I eligible?

Candidates are considered on a case-by-case basis. The basic entry requirement is a High School Diploma or equivalent, with good passes in science subjects (Chemistry, Biology, Physics, and Mathematics).

University graduates, transfer students and mature students with or without any science background are also eligible to apply for a place. Additional science-based courses may be required. You should be realistic about your abilities and the time-frame required to complete the programme successfully, especially if you do not have any science background.

Students whose first language is not English must show proof of English proficiency (at least IELTS 6.5+, TOEFL 650+, or equivalent). Students may begin the program without these scores BUT they will not be allowed to graduate with the Diploma in Pre-Medical Studies until the required score has been obtained.

There are no exam fees unless a resit is required (£50 per resit). Students will need to maintain a grade B or above in each of the 8 modules.

How long will it take?

Study is self-paced to fit your own lifestyle, motivation and commitment. Expect to allocate up to 100 hours per module. For example, committing 10 hours per week of study to one (1) module would take 10 weeks to complete. Five (5) hours per week of study would take 20 weeks to complete etc. Module exemption may be permitted on academic evidence and/or assessment. A £100 fee will be required per module for exemption credit. Some students have managed to complete a module in the space of a month.

What about Med School?

Once you successfully complete your pre-medical program, you can apply to study at various WHO-recognised universities in the Caribbean or Europe. Each university has its own entrance requirements and will consider applicants on a case-by-case basis.  Most medical programmes are taught in English, but some may not be. You should check that the university at which you wish to study offers the programme in a language you are comfortable with, and that they offer opportunities for medical internship.

Most medical universities offer high quality instruction, good clinical rotations, and a great future for graduates.

Graduates who wish to practise in the United Kingdom must sit for the Professional Linguistic Assessment Board (PLAB) examination, after which they are allowed to practise with limited registration for 5 years (with full approval by the UK General Medical Council (GMC)). Students who wish to practise in the United States of America will need to undertake similar licensing requirements by sitting for the United States Medical Licensing Examination (MLE).

When can I begin?

You may register online and begin at any time. However, all official documents must be sent directly to Warnborough College in Canterbury for approval. A student will not be officially registered (matriculated) for the program until the Registration Fee and all supporting documents have been received.
